Half Marathon training W2 R1&2

My first run of the week was on Monday, and it was shite.  Absolutely horrible.  I didn’t want to write or think about it, so I’ve put it off until now.  I had an appointment in Maryhill in the early afternoon, so I decided to run home from it.  I was meant to run 4.5 miles, but about 1 mile in I knew there was no way I was going to manage it; 3 was going to be difficult as it was.  I really didn’t feel well, I wasn’t well hydrated, and I just felt off.

The basics:

Run designation: easy

Distance: 4.5 miles but managed 3 (a swap with Thursday’s run)

Goal pace: 11 minutes per mile

Actual pace: 12’29” (average)

Weather: mild and humid, cloudy

How did the run go?

Like I said above, it was shite.  I wasn’t overly familiar with the path and I was worried about tripping over things.  It was hilly as well, and the day before was leg day and my legs were in agony so, it was just a bad run overall.  It happens.

My second run of the week was this morning.  I knew I needed to get out and back before the post came, so I hurried myself along.  Today was also my first run (officially) as a Doctor, as I received my Doctorate yesterday.  Expect a post about the day soon!

The basics:

Run designation: easy

Distance: 3 miles

Goal pace: 11 minutes per mile

Actual pace: 11’30 (average). Mile 1 12’25”, mile 2 10’56”, and mile 3 10’57”.  So other than the first mile, which includes my warmup, I was at goal pace!  Horray!

Weather: mild, windy, cloudy with some sun breaks

How did the run go?

Today’s run was much better than the one on Monday!  I felt good and my legs were no longer sore.  I was glad to just get out and enjoy a run.  I foresee tomorrow’s run being on the treadmill as it’s going to rain and I have some new trainers to try out.  Looking forward to it and my Pilates workshop tomorrow evening!
